Senator JV Ejercito delivers the good news through Universal Health Care
REELECTIONIST Senator JV Ejercito, referred to as “The Good One,” has been delivering “the good news,” which is the Universal Health Care (UHC) law, in the ongoing election campaign.
Ejercito, principal sponsor of the UHC, attributed his strong showing in the last Pulse Asia survey, which placed him in the senatorial winning circle with a 10-14 rank, to the people’s enlightenment and understanding of the benefits of the health law.
“At the beginning of the campaign, probably the people still are not aware of the Universal Health Care, but gradually, they are beginning to realize and discover that there’s good news coming our way, which is the Universal Health Care law,” he said in a statement.
Under the UHC, all Filipinos are automatic beneficiaries of the National Health Insurance Program.
“Throuigh UHC, there is free medical check-ups and selected laboratory tests. It will be easier for all Filipinos to take care of their health so they can be more healthier,” Ejercito said.
He expressed confidence that he would win in the May 13 senatorial contest as the people are now becoming aware of his good performance in the Senate because of the UHC benefits and other pro-people laws that he had pushed.
“My trajectory (in the survey) is satisfactory, from number 17 (before) to number 10 now. Hopefully, we can sustain this. In my view, we will still win God willing,” he said.
The UHC is the focal message of Ejercito’s campaign, plus his advocacy for massive infrastructure and modern public transportation anchored on the railway system.
Ejercito earned the moniker “Mr. Healthcare” for spearheading the UHC. His other health measures are the National Integrated Cancer Control Act, Mental Health Act, HIV and AIDS Policy Act of 2018.
